What the site provides
General technical information about bootable media, firmware behaviour and disk layouts. It is educational material for a general audience, not professional advice for your specific situation, and not a substitute for the documentation of the software or hardware you are using.
Use at your own risk
These procedures erase data. Preparing a bootable drive destroys everything on the target device, and mistyping a device name can destroy the wrong one. You are responsible for identifying the correct device and for keeping backups. I accept no liability for lost data, damaged hardware or interrupted work.
The site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law I disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and any warranty that the content is accurate, current or complete. To the fullest extent permitted by law, total liability arising out of your use of the site is limited to one hundred US dollars (US$100). Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Acceptable use
You may read, print and share links to anything here. You may not use the site to break the law, attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system, scrape it at a volume that degrades service for others, or copy substantial parts of it for republication.
